Geographical Information Systems (GIS) are becoming a widely accepted tool in petroleum exploration. GIS provides a natural spatially-based working environment for the explorationist, and also allows data from many different specialisms to be integrated for analysis. Lynx's Geographical Information Systems (GIS) products and services include regional GIS data packages and GIS software add-ons for the industry leader in GIS software - ESRI ArcGIS. We also offer technical GIS services such as map digitising and geodatabase building.
Seismic data services include the scanning and vectorising of seismic hard-copy
sections and basemaps, and output of the seismic data in industry-standard formats such as SEG-Y
and UKOOA/SEG-P1. Additional seismic data services offered are seismic reprocessing, and the
reconciliation of data from disparate sources such as paper and tapes. We will handle the
reformatting issues involved in workstation loading of seismic data, to provide seismic data ready
for interpretation.
Seismic scanning and vectorising is available either as a
service through our service centres in London and Houston, or as a
software system for purchase.
Well log services include well tape processing, well log digitisation and well digitising software. We handle both digital and hardcopy well log data, and will output a complete verified and depth-matched dataset.

Gabon - 10th Licensing Round
Gabon. Details have emerged of the timetable for the 10th Licensing Round, which will focus on deep water areas. We have it on authority that the Round will open officially in Libreville on 4th May 2010, to be followed by roadshows in Paris (10th May 2010), Houston (13th May 2010) and Singapore (18th May 2010). There will be no roadshow in London.
The Round will be open for 6 months. The deadline for applications for blocks will be in mid November 2010, with awards expected in December 2010.

September 2009 - Libya - Details Emerge of $10billion Redevelopment plans for oilfields [More...]
The Bloomberg newsagency reported 13 September 2009 that the Libyan government has approved a 12.1 billion-dinar ($9.86 billion) plan to redevelop 24 oilfields.
The National Oil Corporation will work with state-owned companies and foreign firms operating in the country, "without the entrants of new parties," to implement the plan, the Libyan government said in a statement posted on its web site. The project will be funded through borrowing from local banks.
The plan includes raising output from the Jalo oilfield by 100,000 bo/d, with an investment of 1.6 billion dinars. Another 1.3 billion dinars will be invested to boost production from the Nafoora oilfield by 130,000 bo/d.
Libya is seeking to raise crude production capacity from the present 1.8 Mmbo/d to 3 Mmbo/d by 2013,. The country has 5 billion barrels of oil untapped because they are difficult to develop or remote, accounting for 12 percent of its total oil reserves, according to the government.
